[h2580]grace, pass over[h5674], hasten[h4116], measure[h5429], [h5560]flour, meal[h7058], milk[h2461], [h4941]judgement, [h3584]lie, [h2734]burn
[Genesis 18:1-33 KJV*]
- 1 And YAHUAH appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
- 2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, behold, three men[h376][אנשׁים] stood by him: and when he saw, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
- 3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found [h2580]grace in your sight, [h5674]pass not over, I pray you, from your servant:
- 4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, [h8172]and lean yourselves under the tree:
- 5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort you your hearts; after that you shall pass on: for therefore [h5674]have you passed by to your servant. And they said, So do, as that which you have spoken.
- 6 And Abraham hastened[h4116] into the tent unto Sarah, and said, [h4116]hasten three measures[h5429] of [h5560]flour meal[h7058], knead, and make cakes.
- 7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave unto a young man; and he hasted[h4116] to dress Aleph/Tav{/Vav} him.
- 8 And he took butter, and milk[h2461], and the calf which he had dressed, and set before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
- 9 And they said unto him, Where Sarah your wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
- 10 And he said, I will certainly return unto you according to the time of life; and, behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard by the tent door, which behind him.
- 11 Now Abraham and Sarah [were] old [and] well stricken in age: it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
- 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old?
- 13 And YAHUAH said unto Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I which am old, of a surety bear a child?
- 14 Is any thing too hard for YAHUAH? At the time appointed I will return unto you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
- 15 Then Sarah [h3584]lied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, No; but you did laugh.
- 16 And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.
- 17 And YAHUAH said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
- 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
- 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of YAHUAH, to do justice and judgment; that YAHUAH may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
- 20 And YAHUAH said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
- 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
- 22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before YAHUAH.
- 23 And Abraham drew near, and said, will you also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
- 24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: will you also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that [are] therein?
- 25 That be far from you to do like this word, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from you: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do [מִשְׁפָּט][h4941]judgement?
- 26 And YAHUAH said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, [h5375]then I will support the whole place [h5668]on their behalf.
- 27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto YAHUAH, which [am but] dust and ashes:
- 28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: will you destroy all the city for five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy.
- 29 And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do [h5668]on behalf of the forty.
- 30 And he said, Oh let not YAHUAH be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do if I find thirty there.
- 31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto YAHUAH: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy [h5668]on behalf of the twenty.
- 32 And he said, I pray let not my lord [h2734]burn, and I will speak [h389]only [הפּעם][h6471]this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy [h5668]on behalf of the ten.
- 33 And YAHUAH went his way, as soon as [h3615]he had finished speaking with Abraham: and Abraham returned to his place.
Discussion
Three Measure of Meal
- [Genesis 18:6] 6 And Abraham hastened[h4116] into the tent unto Sarah, and said, [h4116]hasten three measures[h5429] of [h5560]flour meal[h7058], knead, and make cakes.
- [Matthew 13:33 KJV] 33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven[g2219], which a woman [g2983]received, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened[g2220].
- [Matthew 5:14-15 KJV] 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house.
- [Genesis 3:6-8] 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also[h1571] gave some to her man with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked[h5903]. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. 8 And they heard the [h6963]voice of Aleph/Tav, of YAHUAH Alahym [h1980]going in the garden [h7307]to the spirit of the day, and the Adam and his woman hid themselves from the face of YAHUAH Alahym in between the garden tree[s].
- [Genesis 3:20-24] 20 And the Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. 21 And YAHUAH Alahym made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. 22 And YAHUAH Alahym said, Behold, the Adam is become as one from him, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also from the tree of lives, and eat, and live [h5769]to eternity. 23 Therefore YAHUAH Alahym sent him forth from the garden of Eden, [h5647]to serve the ground of Aleph/Tav from whence he was taken. 24 So he drove out the Adam of Aleph/Tav; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims of Aleph/Tav, and Aleph/Tav’s flaming sword which turned itself every way, to keep the way of Aleph/Tav of the tree of lives.
- [Romans 5:12 KJV] 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
- [Genesis 6:1-6] 1 And it came to pass, when the [h2490]defiled Adam multiplied[h7231] on the face of [h127]the ground, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of Alahym saw[h7200] the daughters of the Adam [h3588]as [h2896]good; and they took to them wives of all which they chose. 3 And YAHUAH said, My spirit shall not [h1777]judge on Adam [h5769]to eternity, for that he also [is] flesh[h1320]: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4 [h5303]The Nephilim were on the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of Alahym came in unto the daughters of the Adam, and they bare to them, these, [h1368]the mighty ones which of eternity, men[h376]][אנשׁי] of the name. 5 And YAHUAH saw that great evil of the Adam in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart only evil all of the day. 6 And YAHUAH [h5162]regretted that he had made the Adam of Aleph/Tav on the earth, and it grieved Him at his heart.
- [Matthew 11:12 KJV] 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven [g971]is raped, and [g973]the rapists take her by force.
- [Matthew 13:24-30 KJV] 24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in your field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while you gather up the tares, you root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather you together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
- [Matthew 13:36-43 KJV] 36 Then Yahusha sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. 37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the [g4190]evil one; 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
- [Matthew 12:25-29 KJV] 25 And Yahusha knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? 27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out [g1140]demons, by whom do your children cast out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out [g1140]demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. 29 Or else how can one enter into the house of the strong, and spoil his [g4632]vessels, except he first bind the strong? and then he will spoil his house.
- [Matthew 12:43-45 KJV] 43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth [it] empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last [state] of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
- [Mark 5:1-20 KJV] 1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. 2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 Who had [his] dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: 4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any [man] tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 6 But when he saw Yahusha afar off, he ran and worshipped him, 7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Yahusha, [thou] Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. 8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, [thou] unclean spirit. 9 And he asked him, What [is] your name? And he answered, saying, My name [is] Legion: for we are many. 10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. 11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. 12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 13 And forthwith Yahusha gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. 14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told [it] in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. 15 And they come to Yahusha, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw [it] told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and [also] concerning the swine. 17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. 18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit Yahusha suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to your friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Yahusha had done for him: and all [men] did marvel.
Is Anything too hard for YAHUAH
- [Gen 18:10-15] 10 And he said, I will certainly return unto you according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah your wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard by the tent door, which behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah [were] old [and] well stricken in age; [and] it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? 13 And YAHUAH said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? 14 Is any thing too hard for YAHUAH? At the time appointed I will return unto you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. 15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but you didst laugh.
- [Judges 7:1-2 KJV] 1 Then Jerubbaal, who [is] Gideon, and all the people that [were] with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley. 2 And YAHUAH said unto Gideon, The people that [are] with you [are] too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
- [Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 KJV] 4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. 5 As thou knowest not what [is] the way of the spirit, [nor] how the bones [do grow] in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. 6 In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening withhold not yours hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both [shall be] alike good.
- [Matthew 6:25-34 KJV] 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are you not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.
- [2 Kings 4:1-7 KJV] 1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that your servant did fear YAHUAH: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. 2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Your handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot[h610][אסוּך] of oil. 3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all your neighbours, empty vessels; borrow not a few. 4 And when thou art come in, thou shall shut the door [h1157]behind you [h1157]and behind your sons, and shall pour out into all those vessels, and thou shall set aside that which is full. 5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought to her; and she poured out. 6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, [There is] not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt, and live thou and your children of the rest.
Shall Not the Judge of All the Earth do Right?
- [Luke 18:1-8 KJV] 1 And he spake a parable unto them, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And YAHUAH said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
- [Jonah 3:4-10 KJV] 4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered [him] with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused [it] to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that [is] in their hands. 9 Who can tell [if] God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did [it] not.
- [Jonah 4:1-11 KJV] 1 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. 2 And he prayed unto YAHUAH, and said, I pray you, O YAHUAH, [was] not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou [art] a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest you of the evil. 3 Therefore now, O YAHUAH, take, I beseech you, my life from me; for [it is] better for me to die than to live. 4 Then said YAHUAH, Doest thou well to be angry? 5 So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city. 6 And YAHUAH God prepared a gourd, and made [it] to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd. 7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered. 8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, [It is] better for me to die than to live. 9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, [even] unto death. 10 Then said YAHUAH, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night: 11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and [also] much cattle?
- [Ezekiel 18:19-32 KJV] 19 Yet say you, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, [and] hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live. 20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. 21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. 23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith YAHUAH YAHUAH: [and] not that he should return from his ways, and live? 24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked [man] doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. 25 Yet you say, The way of YAHUAH is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? 26 When a righteous [man] turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. 27 Again, when the wicked [man] turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. 28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of YAHUAH is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal? 30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith YAHUAH YAHUAH. Repent, and turn from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord YAHUAH: wherefore turn, and live you.
Milk (and Honey)
- [Genesis 49:10-12 KJV] 10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be]. 11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: 12 His eyes [shall be] red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
- [Exodus 3:1-9 KJV] 1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, [even] to Horeb. 2 And the angel of YAHUAH appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush [was] not consumed. 3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4 And when YAHUAH saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here [am] I. 5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off your shoes from off your feet, for the place whereon thou standest [is] holy ground. 6 Moreover he said, I [am] the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. 7 And YAHUAH said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which [are] in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
- [Song of Songs 4:10-16 KJV] 10 How fair is your love, my sister, [my] spouse! how much better is your love than wine! and the smell of yours ointments than all spices! 11 Your lips, O [my] spouse, drop [as] the honeycomb: honey and milk [are] under your tongue; and the smell of your garments [is] like the smell of Lebanon. 12 A garden inclosed [is] my sister, [my] spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. 13 Your plants [are] an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard, 14 Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices: 15 A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon. 16 Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, [that] the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.
