Questions

  1. Genealogy

  1. Ten Generations

The genealogy in Genesis 5 includes the following names:

  1. Adam means "mankind,"
  2. Seth means "appointed,"
  3. Enos means "mortal,"
  4. Cainan means "sorrow,"
  5. Mahalalel means "the blessed God,"
  6. Jared means "shall come down,"
  7. Enoch means "teaching,"
  8. Methuselah means "his death shall bring,"
  9. Lamech means "the despairing," and
  10. Noah means "rest."

Taken together, the sequence of patriarchs can be interpreted to read:

Mankind appointed mortal sorrow. The blessed God shall come down teaching. His death shall bring the despairing rest.

  1. The Desecrated (defiled)

  1. Is mankind in a state of restless despair owing to the sorrow of mortality? Is this mortality the desecration spoken of at the end of Genesis 4?
  2. [Gen 4:25-26] 25 And Adam knew again his wife of Aleph/Tav and she bare a son, [h7121]and she called his name of Aleph/Tav: Seth: For Alahym hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. 26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; [h7121]and he called his name of Aleph/Tav: Enos. [h227]Then began [h2490]the desecrated [h7121]to call YAHUAH by name.
  1. Calling Names

  1. What is the significance of calling YAHUAH by name?
  2. What is the significance of calling his name of Aleph/Tav?
  1. Rest

  1. [Psalm 95:6-11 KJV] 6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before YAHUAH our maker. 7 For he [is] our God; and we [are] the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if you will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, [and] as [in] the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. 10 Forty years long was I grieved with [this] generation, and said, It [is] a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest[h4496].
  2. [Isaiah 57:1-21 KJV] 1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth [it] to heart: and merciful men [are] taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil. 2 He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, walking [in] his uprightness. 3 But draw near hither, you sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore. 4 Against whom do you sport yourselves? against whom make you a wide mouth, [and] draw out the tongue? [are] you of Aleph/Tav not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, 5 Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks? 6 Among the smooth of the stream [is] your portion; they, they [are] your lot: even to them have thou poured a drink offering, thou have offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these? 7 Upon a lofty and high mountain have thou set your bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice. 8 Behind the doors also and the posts have thou set up your remembrance: for thou have uncovered thyself from me of Aleph/Tav, and art gone up; thou have enlarged your bed, and cut off thee from them; thou lovedst their bed; hand thou sawest. 9 And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase your perfumes, and didst send your messengers far off, and caused to debase unto [h7585]Sheol. 10 Thou art wearied in the greatness of your way; [yet] said thou not, There is no hope: thou have found the life of yours hand; therefore thou wast not grieved. 11 And of whom have thou been afraid or feared, that thou have lied, and have not remembered me, nor laid [it] to your heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not? 12 I will declare your righteousness, and your works; for they shall not profit thee. 13 When thou criest, let your companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain; 14 And shall say, Cast you up, cast you up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people. 15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] sanctified; I dwell in the high and sanctified, with him also of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. 16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls I have made. 17 For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. 18 I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. 19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to far off, and to near, saith YAHUAH; and I will heal him. 20 But the wicked [are] like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. 21 no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
  3. [Hebrews 3:1-19 KJV] 1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Yahusha; 2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses [was faithful] in all his house. 3 For this [man] was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath built the house hath more honour than the house. 4 For every house is built by some [man]; but he that built all things [is] God. 5 And Moses verily [was] faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; 6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. 7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if you will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. 10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in [their] heart; and they have not known my ways. 11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? [was it] not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
  4. [Hebrews 4:1-16 KJV] 1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it]. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh [day] on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And in this [place] again, If they shall enter into my rest. 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8 For if Yahusha had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God [did] from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Yahusha the Son of God, let us hold fast [our] profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
  1. Comfort

  1. [Lamentations 1:15-22 KJV] 15 YAHUAH hath trodden under foot all my mighty [men] in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: YAHUAH hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, [as] in a winepress. 16 For these [things] I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed. 17 Zion spreadeth forth her hands, [and there is] none to comfort her: YAHUAH hath commanded concerning Jacob, [that] his adversaries [should be] round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them. 18 YAHUAH is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity. 19 I called for my lovers, [but] they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls. 20 Behold, O YAHUAH; for I [am] in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home [there is] as death. 21 They have heard that I sigh: [there is] none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou have done [it]: thou will bring the day [that] thou have called, and they shall be like unto me. 22 Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou have done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs [are] many, and my heart [is] faint.
  2. [John 14:16, 26 KJV] 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; ... 26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
  3. [John 15:26 KJV] 26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
  4. [John 16:7 KJV] 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
