  1. [Genesis 29:1-35 KJV*]

  1. 1 Then Jacob lifted up his feet, and came into the land of sons of east.
  2. 2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and the great stone upon the well's mouth.
  3. 3 And thither were all the flocks[h5739] gathered: and they rolled[h1556][וגלל[ke]וּ] Aleph/Tav–the stone from the well's mouth, and watered Aleph/Tav–the sheep[h6629], and returned Aleph/Tav–the stone upon the well's mouth to her place.
  4. 4 And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence Aleph/Tav{/Mem} you? And they said, Of Haran [are] we.
  5. 5 And he said unto them, Know ye Aleph/Tav–Laban[kf][h3837] son of Nahor[kg][h5152]? And they said, We know.
  6. 6 And he said unto them, Is all well for him? And they said, well: and, behold, Rachel[kh][h7354] his daughter cometh with the sheep[h6629].
  7. 7 And he said, Lo, still high day, not time to gather the cattle: water ye the sheep[h6629], and go feed[h7462].
  8. 8 And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks[h5739] be gathered together, and they roll[h1556] Aleph/Tav–the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.
  9. 9 And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep[h6629]: for [h7462]she fed them.
  10. 10 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Aleph/Tav–Rachel daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and Aleph/Tav–the sheep[h6629] of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled Aleph/Tav–the stone from the well's mouth, and watered Aleph/Tav–[h6629]the sheep of Laban his mother's brother.
  11. 11 And Jacob kissed[h5401] Rachel, and lifted up Aleph/Tav–his voice, and wept.
  12. 12 And Jacob told Rachel that he [was] her father's brethren, and that he [was] Rebekah's son: and she ran and told her father.
  13. 13 And it came to pass, when Laban heard Aleph/Tav–tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he recounted to Laban Aleph/Tav–all these things.
  14. 14 And Laban said to him, Surely Aleph/Tav{/Hey} you [are] my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him a month of days.
  15. 15 And Laban said unto Jacob, Because Aleph/Tav{/Hey} you [are] my brethren, should you therefore serve me for nothing? tell me, what your wages[h4909]?
  16. 16 And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder Leah, and the name of the younger Rachel.
  17. 17 Leah’s eyes tender, but Rachel was of beautiful form and beautiful appearance.
  18. 18 And Jacob loved Aleph/Tav–Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel your younger daughter.
  19. 19 And Laban said, [It is] better that I give Aleph/Tav{/Hey} her to you, than that I should give Aleph/Tav{/Hey} her to another man: abide with me.
  20. 20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they were in his eyes a few days, by the love he had to Aleph/Tav{/Hey} her.
  21. 21 And Jacob said unto Laban, Give Aleph/Tav–my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
  22. 22 And Laban gathered together Aleph/Tav–all–men of the place, and made a feast.
  23. 23 And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Aleph/Tav–Leah his daughter, and brought Aleph/Tav{/Hey} her to him; and he went in unto her.
  24. 24 And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Aleph/Tav–Zilpah[ki] his maid [for] an handmaid.
  25. 25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it [was] Leah: and he said to Laban, What cut from {Zayin/}Aleph/Tav have you done to me? did not I serve with you by Rachel? So why [h7411]have you deceived me?
  26. 26 And Laban said, It must not be so done in our place, to give the younger before the firstborn[h1067].
  27. 27 Fulfil a week cut from {Zayin/}Aleph/Tav and she will be given to you [גּם־את־זאת]Aleph/Tav–cut from {Zayin/}Aleph/Tav–also in the service which you shall serve with me seven years besides.
  28. 28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled a week cut from {Zayin/}Aleph/Tav: and he gave him Aleph/Tav–Rachel his daughter to wife also.
  29. 29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Aleph/Tav–Bilhah[kj] his handmaid to be her maid.
  30. 30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he also loved Aleph/Tav–Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
  31. 31 And when YAHUAH saw that Leah [was] hated, he opened Aleph/Tav–her womb: but Rachel [was] barren.
  32. 32 And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben[kk]: for she said, Surely YAHUAH hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.
  33. 33 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because YAHUAH hath heard that I [was] hated, he hath therefore given me [גּם־את־זה]Aleph/Tav–this–also: and she called his name Simeon[kl].
  34. 34 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi[km].
  35. 35 And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, this time will I praise Aleph/Tav–YAHUAH: therefore she called his name Judah[kn]; and left bearing.

Discussion

  1. Roll Stone

  1. [Gen 29:1-3] 1 Then Jacob lifted up his feet, and came into the land of sons of east. 2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and the great stone upon the well's mouth. 3 And thither were all the flocks[h5739] gathered: and they rolled[h1556] Aleph/Tav–the stone from the well's mouth, and watered Aleph/Tav–the sheep[h6629], and returned Aleph/Tav–the stone upon the well's mouth to her place.
  2. [Joshua 10:16-28 KJV] 16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah. 17 And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah. 18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them: 19 And stay ye not, [but] pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for YAHUAH your God hath delivered them into your hand. 20 And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest [which] remained of them entered into fenced cities. 21 And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel. 22 Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave. 23 And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, [and] the king of Eglon. 24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them. 25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall YAHUAH do to all your enemies against whom ye fight. 26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening. 27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, [that] Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, [which remain] until this very day. 28 And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the mouth of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that [were] therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.
  3. [Matthew 27:57-66 KJV] 57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Yahusha's disciple: 58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Yahusha. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. 59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. 61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre. 62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, 63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. 64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. 65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make [it] as sure as ye can. 66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
  4. [Matthew 28:1-9 KJV] 1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of YAHUAH descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead [men]. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Yahusha, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. 8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. 9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Yahusha met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
  5. [Mark 15:46 KJV] 46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
  6. [Mark 16:3-4 KJV] 3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? 4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
  7. [Luke 24:2 KJV] 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
  8. [John 11:30-46 KJV] 30 Now Yahusha was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him. 31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there. 32 Then when Mary was come where Yahusha was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 33 When Yahusha therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, 34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Yahusha wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! 37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died? 38 Yahusha therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Yahusha said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been [dead] four days. 40 Yahusha saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41 Then they took away the stone [from the place] where the dead was laid. And Yahusha lifted up [his] eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said [it], that they may believe that thou hast sent me. 43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Yahusha saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. 45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Yahusha did, believed on him. 46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Yahusha had done.
  1. Well Water

  1. [Exodus 2:15-25 KJV] 15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well. 16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew [water], and filled the troughs to water their father's flock. 17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock. 18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How [is it that] ye are come so soon to day? 19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew [water] enough for us, and watered the flock. 20 And he said unto his daughters, And where [is] he? why [is] it [that] ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread. 21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter. 22 And she bare [him] a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land. 23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. 24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto [them].
  2. [John 21:15-17 KJV] 15 So when they had dined, Yahusha saith to Simon Peter, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Yahusha saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
  3. [John 4:1-29 KJV] 1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Yahusha made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Yahusha himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. 4 And he must needs go through Samaria. 5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob's well was there. Yahusha therefore, being wearied with [his] journey, sat thus on the well[ko]: [and] it was about the sixth hour. 7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Yahusha saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that you, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Yahusha answered and said unto her, If you knewest the gift[g1431] of God[kp], and who it is that says to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water. 11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then have you that living water? 12 Are thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle[kq]? 13 Yahusha answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life[kr]. 15 The woman says unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. 16 Yahusha saith unto her, Go, call your husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Yahusha said unto her, You have well said, I have no husband: 18 For you hast had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: in that you said truly. 19 The woman says unto him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Yahusha saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 You worship you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. 24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman says unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Yahusha says unto her, I that speak unto you am. [ks]27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What do you seek? or, Why do you talk with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ[kt]?
  1. Wedding Feast

  1. [John 2:1-12 KJV] 1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Yahusha was there: 2 And both Yahusha was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Yahusha saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Yahusha saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. 5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do [it]. 6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. 7 Yahusha saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare [it]. 9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: [but] thou hast kept the good wine until now. 11 This beginning of miracles did Yahusha in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. 12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
  2. [Matthew 22:1-14 KJV] 1 And Yahusha answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, 2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, 3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. 4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and [my] fatlings [are] killed, and all things [are] ready: come unto the marriage. 5 But they made light of [it], and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: 6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated [them] spitefully, and slew [them]. 7 But when the king heard [thereof], he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. 9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. 10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. 11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: 12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 14 For many are called, but few [g1588]elect.
