[Genesis 23:1-20 KJV*]
- 1 And [h2416]lives of Sarah[h8283] [h1961]were one hundred years and twenty years and seven years: [שׁני]two[gz] [h2416]lives of Sarah.
- 2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba[ha][hb][h7153]; the same [is] Hebron[hc] in the land of Canaan[hd]: and Abraham came to mourn[h5594] for Sarah, and to weep[h1058] for her.
- 3 And Abraham stood up from before his dead[h4191], and spoke to Heth[he]’s[h2845] children, to say,
- 4 I [am] a stranger[h1616] and a sojourner[h8453] with you: give me a [h6913]sepulchre [h272]property with you, that I may bury[h6912] my dead [h6440][מלּפני]from before my face.
- 5 And Heth’s children answered Aleph/Tav–Abraham, to say to him,
- 6 Hear us, my lord[h113]: Aleph/Tav{/Hey} you a prince[h5387] [of] [h430]Alahym among us: in the choice[h4005] of our sepulchres[h6913] bury[h6912] Aleph/Tav–your dead; no [h376]man of us shall withhold[h3607] from you Aleph/Tav–his sepulchre, [h6912][מקּבר]from burying your dead.
- 7 And Abraham stood up, and bowed[h7812] himself to the people of the land, to Heth’s children.
- 8 And he spoke with Aleph/Tav{/Mem} them, to say, If it be Aleph/Tav–[h5315]your soul to bury Aleph/Tav–my dead [h6440][מלּפני]from before my face, hear[h8085] me, and entreat[h6293] for me with Ephron[hf][h6085] son of Zohar[hg][h6714],
- 9 That he may give to me Aleph/Tav–the cave[h4631] of Machpelah[hh][hi][h4375], which [is] his, which [is] in the end of his field[h7704], [h3701]in silver [h4392]full, he shall give her to me [h8432]in your midst for a sepulchre property.
- 10 And Ephron dwelled [h8432]in the midst of Heth’s children: and Ephron the Hittite[hj] answered Abraham in the [h241]ears of Heth’s children, to all that went in at his city’s[h5892] gate[hk][h8179], to say,
- 11 No, my lord[אדני][h113], hear[h8085] me: the field[hl] I give to you, and the cave[hm] that [is] in him, to you I give her; for the eyes of my people’s sons I give her to you: bury your dead.
- 12 And Abraham bowed himself down to the faces of the people of the land.
- 13 And he spoke unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land, to say, [h389]nevertheless if Aleph/Tav{/Hey} you to me, hear[h8085] me: I will give [h3701]silver for the field; you take from me, and I will bury Aleph/Tav–my dead there.
- 14 And Ephron answered Aleph/Tav–Abraham, to say to him,
- 15 My lord[h113], [h8085]hear me: the land four hundred silver shekels; what [is] that between me and you or Aleph/Tav–your dead to bury?
- 16 And Abraham hearkened[h8085] unto Ephron, and Abraham weighed to Ephron Aleph/Tav–the silver which [h1696]was spoken in the ears of Heth’s sons: four hundred shekels of silver [h5674]passed [h5503]to the merchant.
- 17 [h6965]And he raised up[hn][ho] the field of Ephron, which [was] in Machpelah, which [was] before Mamre[hp], the field, and the cave which [was] in him, and all the trees[hq][h6086] that [were] in the field, that [were] in all his borders[h1366] round about,
- 18 [h4736]for a purchase unto Abraham [h5869]in the eyes of Heth’s children, with all that went in at his city’s[h5892] gate[h8179].
- 19 And after this, Abraham buried Aleph/Tav–Sarah his wife in a cave of the Machpelah field on the face of Mamre: the same [is] Hebron in the land of Canaan.
- 20 [h6965]And he raised up[hr][hs] the field, and the cave that [is] in him unto Abraham for a sepulchre property flowing from {Mem/}Aleph/Tav Heth’s children.
Discussion
Sepulchre Property: Family Cemetery
- [Genesis 49:29-33 KJV] 29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that [is] in the field of Ephron the Hittite, 30 In the cave that [is] in the field of Machpelah, which [is] before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace[H6913]. 31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah. 32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that [is] therein [was] from the children of Heth. 33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
- [Genesis 50:5, 13 KJV] 5 My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave[H6913] which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again. ... 13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace[H6913] of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.
- [Exodus 14:11 KJV] 11 And they said unto Moses, Because [there were] no graves[H6913] in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
- [Judges 8:32 KJV] 32 And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre[H6913] of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
- [Judges 16:31 KJV] 31 Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought [him] up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace[H6913] of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
- [2 Samuel 2:32 KJV] 32 And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre[H6913] of his father, which [was in] Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
- [2 Samuel 19:37 KJV] 37 Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, by the grave[H6913] of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.
- [2 Samuel 21:14 KJV] 14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre[H6913] of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
- [1 Kings 13:1-10 KJV] 1 And, behold, there came a man of Alahym from Judah by the word of YAHUAH unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood[h5975] [h681]beside the altar to burn[h6999]incense. 2 And he cried against the altar in the word of YAHUAH, and said, O altar, altar, thus says YAHUAH; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, [יאשׁיּהוּ]Yashyhu his name; and upon you [h2076]he shall sacrifice Aleph/Tav–priests of the high places that burn[h6999]incense upon you, and Adam’s bones shall be burned upon you. 3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This [is] the sign which YAHUAH hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that [are] upon it shall be poured out. 4 And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him[ht]. 5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of YAHUAH. 6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of YAHUAH thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought YAHUAH, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as before. 7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward. 8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place: 9 For so was it charged me by the word of YAHUAH, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest. 10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel.
- [1 Kings 13:11-34 KJV] 11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father. 12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah. 13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon, 14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, [Art] thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I [am]. 15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread. 16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place: 17 For it was said to me by the word of YAHUAH, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest. 18 He said unto him, I [am] a prophet also as thou [art]; and an angel spake unto me by the word of YAHUAH, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. [But] he lied unto him. 19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water. 20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of YAHUAH came unto the prophet that brought him back: 21 And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith YAHUAH, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of YAHUAH, and hast not kept the commandment which YAHUAH thy God commanded thee, 22 But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which was said to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers. 23 And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, [to wit], for the prophet whom he had brought back. 24 And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase[hu]. 25 And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told [it] in the city where the old prophet dwelt. 26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard [thereof], he said, It [is] the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of YAHUAH: therefore YAHUAH hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of YAHUAH[hv], which he spake unto him. 27 And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled [him]. 28 And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass.[hw] 29 And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him. 30 And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over him, [saying], Alas, my brother! 31 And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God buried; rest Aleph/Tav–my bones beside his bones: 32 For the saying which he cried by the word of YAHUAH against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which [are] in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass. 33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from the evil of his way, but returned and made of the lowest of the people priests of high places: those who desired, he consecrated Aleph/Tav–his hand, and he became of the priests of high places. 34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut [it] off, and to destroy [it] from off the face of the earth.34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam[hx], even to cut [it] off, and to destroy [it] from off the face of the earth.
- Jeroboam built an unholy priesthood on the altar at bethel. In contrast, the Messiah builds a holy priesthood on the altar of His sacrificed body—the cornerstone. The priesthood then is a temple of living stones growing out of the foundation of the law, the prophets, and the apostles.
- [1 Peter 2:2-9 KJV] 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord [is] gracious. 4 To whom coming, a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, precious, 5 You also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Yahusha Messiah. 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded. 7 Unto you therefore which believe, precious, but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. 9 But you a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
- Why does the elder prophet want his bones to be laid with the bones of the man of Alahym? The answer has to do with atonement and resurrection. Where atonement has been made, life follows after death. Atonement is made on an altar or before a throne. The day of atonement is also called bone day because atonement enables dry, dead bones to live again by connecting them to the fountain of living waters. See motifs regarding water coming out of the rock and corpses coming out of graves. The lion and the donkey stand beside the corpse of the man of God the same way Jeroboam stood beside the altar at bethel. The corpse of the man of God is an altar.
- [2 Kings 13:20-21 KJV] 20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. And Moabite [h1416]troops came into the land at the coming in of the year. 21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they saw Aleph/Tav–[h1416]the troop and they cast Aleph/Tav–the man into the sepulchre of Elisha. And the man went down and touched on the bones of Elisha, and he lived, and [h6965]rose up on his feet.
- [Matthew 27:50-54 KJV] 50 Yahusha, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the spirit. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Yahusha, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
- [Hosea 13:4-16 KJV] 4 Yet I [am] YAHUAH your God from the land of Egypt, and you shalt know no god but me: for no saviour beside me[hy]. 5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought. 6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me[hz]. 7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe: 8 I will meet them as a bear bereaved, and will rend the caul[ia] of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them. 9 O Israel, you have destroyed yourself[ib]; but in me your help[ic]. 10 I will be your king:[id] where that may save you in all your cities? and your judges of whom you said, Give me a king and princes? 11 I gave you a king in mine anger, and took away in my wrath[ie]. 12 The iniquity of Ephraim [is] bound up; his sin hid.[if][ig][ih] 13 Birthing sorrows shall come upon him: he [is] an unwise son; for he should not stand for time in child birth. 14 I will ransom them from the hand of Sheol; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be your pestilence; O grave, I will be your destruction: [h5164]consolation shall be hid from my eyes. 15 Though he be fruitful among [his] brethren, an east wind shall come, spirit of YAHUAH shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall plunder the treasure of all pleasant vessels. 16 Samaria[ii][ij][ik] shall become guilty; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be cleaved[il].
Purchase Field
- [Jeremiah 32:6-15 KJV] 6 And Jeremiah said, The word of YAHUAH came unto me, saying, 7 Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that [is] in Anathoth: for the right of redemption [is] thine to buy [it]. 8 So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of YAHUAH, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that [is] in Anathoth, which [is] in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance [is] thine, and the redemption [is] thine; buy [it] for thyself. Then I knew that this [was] the word of YAHUAH. 9 And I bought Aleph/Tav–the field of Hanameel[im] my uncle's son, that [was] in Anathoth, and weighed him Aleph/Tav–the silver, [even] seventeen of the silver shekels. 10 And I wrote the book, and sealed [it], and took witnesses, and weighed [him] the silver in the balances. 11 So I took Aleph/Tav–the book of the purchase, Aleph/Tav–the sealed commandments and the statutes, and Aleph/Tav–the opened: 12 And I gave Aleph/Tav–the book of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's [son], and in the presence of the witnesses that wrote the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison. 13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying, 14 Thus saith YAHUAH of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these books, this book of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this book which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days. 15 For thus saith YAHUAH of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
- [Jeremiah 32:16-30 KJV] 16 Now when I had delivered Aleph/Tav–the book of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto YAHUAH, saying, 17 Ah Lord YAHUAH! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, [and] there is nothing too hard for thee: 18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, YAHUAH of hosts, [is] his name, 19 Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes [are] open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: 20 Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, [even] unto this day, and in Israel, and among [other] men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day; 21 And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror; 22 And hast given them Aleph/Tav–the land cut from {Zayin/}Aleph/Tav, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey; 23 And they came in, and possessed Aleph/Tav{/Hey} her; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in your law Aleph/Tav; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them: 24 Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest [it]. 25 And Aleph/Tav{/Hey} you hast said unto me, O Lord YAHUAH, Buy for you the field with silver, and testify; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans. 26 Then came the word of YAHUAH unto Jeremiah, saying, 27 Behold, I [am] YAHUAH, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? 28 Therefore thus saith YAHUAH; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: 29 And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal[in], and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger. 30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith YAHUAH.
- [Jeremiah 32:31-44 KJV] 31 For this city hath been to me [as] a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face, 32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching [them], yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction. 34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it. 35 And they built the high places of Baal, which [are] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through [the fire] unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. 36 And now therefore thus saith YAHUAH, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. 41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul. 42 For thus saith YAHUAH; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them. 43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, [It is] desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans. 44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal [them], and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith YAHUAH.
- [Zechariah 11:12-13 KJV] 12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give [me] my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty [pieces] of silver. 13 And YAHUAH said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty [pieces] of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of YAHUAH.
- [Matthew 27:1-10 KJV] 1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Yahusha to put him to death: 2 And when they had bound him, they led [him] away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. 3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What [is that] to us? see thou [to that]. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. 9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 10 And gave them for the potter's field, as YAHUAH appointed me.
- [Acts 1:15-20 KJV] 15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,) 16 Men [and] brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Yahusha. 17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. 18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. 19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. 20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
- [Matthew 13:44-46 KJV] 44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
- [Acts 4:32-37 KJV] 32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any [of them] that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of YAHUAH Yahusha: and great grace was upon them all. 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid [them] down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, [and] of the country of Cyprus, 37 Having land, sold [it], and brought the money, and laid [it] at the apostles' feet.
- [Acts 5:1-16 KJV] 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2 And kept back [part] of the price, his wife also being privy [to it], and brought a certain part, and laid [it] at the apostles' feet. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. 5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. 6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried [him] out, and buried [him]. 7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. 8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. 9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of YAHUAH? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband [are] at the door, and shall carry thee out. 10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying [her] forth, buried [her] by her husband. 11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things. 12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. 13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them. 14 And believers were the more added to YAHUAH, multitudes both of men and women.) 15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid [them] on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. 16 There came also a multitude [out] of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
Raise Up
- [Ruth 4:1-17 KJV] 1 Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down. 2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down. 3 And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which [was] our brother Elimelech's: 4 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy [it] before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem [it], redeem [it]: but if thou wilt not redeem [it, then] tell me, that I may know: for [there is] none to redeem [it] beside thee; and I [am] after thee. And he said, I will redeem [it]. 5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy [it] also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance. 6 And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem [it] for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem [it]. 7 Now this [was the manner] in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave [it] to his neighbour: and this [was] a testimony in Israel. 8 Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy [it] for thee. So he drew off his shoe. 9 And Boaz said unto the elders, and [unto] all the people, Ye [are] witnesses this day, that I have bought all that [was] Elimelech's, and all that [was] Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi. 10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye [are] witnesses this day. 11 And all the people that [were] in the gate, and the elders, said, [We are] witnesses. YAHUAH make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem: 12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which YAHUAH shall give thee of this young woman. 13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, YAHUAH gave her conception, and she bare a son. 14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed [be] YAHUAH, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. 15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of [thy] life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him. 16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it. 17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he [is] the father of Jesse, the father of David.
- [John 6:39-58 KJV] 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42 And they said, Is not this Yahusha, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? 43 Yahusha therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. 46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat? 53 Then Yahusha said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
- [Mark 8:22-26 KJV] 22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. 24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25 After that he put [his] hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. 26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell [it] to any in the town.
