  1. [Genesis 27:1-46 KJV*]

  1. 1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold me.
  2. 2 And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:
  3. 3 Now therefore take, I pray you, your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field, and take me [ציד][h6720]game;
  4. 4 And make me savoury meat[h4303], such as I love, and bring to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless you before I die.
  5. 5 And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt [h6718][ציד]game to bring.
  6. 6 And Rebekah spoke unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard your father speak unto Esau your brother, saying,
  7. 7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless you before YAHUAH before my death.
  8. 8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command you.
  9. 9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for your father, such as he loves:
  10. 10 And you shall bring to your father, that he may eat, and that he may bless you before his death.
  11. 11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother a hairy man, and I a smooth man:
  12. 12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.
  13. 13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me your curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me.
  14. 14 And he went, and fetched, and brought to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.
  15. 15 And Rebekah took goodly clothing of her eldest son Esau, which [were] with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:
  16. 16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:
  17. 17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
  18. 18 And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here [am] I; who you, my son?
  19. 19 And Jacob said unto his father, I [am] Esau your firstborn; I have done according as you bade me: arise, I pray you, sit and eat of my venison, that your soul may bless me.
  20. 20 And Isaac said unto his son, How [is it] that you have found so quickly, my son? And he said, Because YAHUAH your God brought to me.
  21. 21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray you, that I may feel you, my son, whether you my very son Esau or not.
  22. 22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice Jacob's voice, but the hands the hands of Esau.
  23. 23 And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he blessed him.
  24. 24 And he said, you my very son Esau? And he said, I [am].
  25. 25 And he said, Bring near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless you. And he brought near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine, and he drank.
  26. 26 And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.
  27. 27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son as the smell of a field which YAHUAH has blessed:
  28.  28 Therefore The Alahym give you of the dew of the heavens, and fatness of the earth, and a multitude[jr] of grain and wine[js]:
  29. 29 Let [h5971][עמּים]peoples serve you, and [h3816][לאמּים]ethnicities bow down[h7812] to you. Be [h1376][גביר]a prevailer to your brethren, and let your mother's sons bow down[h7812] to you: cursed he that curses you, and blessed he that blesses you.
  30. 30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
  31. 31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son's venison, that your soul may bless me.
  32. 32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who you? And he said, I your son, your firstborn Esau.
  33. 33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where he that has taken venison, and brought me, and I have eaten of all before you came, and have blessed him? yea, he shall be blessed.
  34. 34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, me also, O my father.
  35. 35 And he said, your brother came with subtilty, and has taken away your blessing.
  36. 36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he has supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he has taken away my blessing. And he said, Have you not reserved a blessing for me?
  37. 37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him your lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto you, my son?
  38. 38 And Esau said unto his father, Have you but one blessing, my father? bless me, me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
  39. 39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, your dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;
  40. 40 And by your sword shall you live, and shall serve your brother; and it shall come to pass when you shall have the dominion, that you shall break his yoke from off your neck.
  41. 41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.
  42. 42 And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, your brother Esau, as touching you, comforts himself to kill you.
  43. 43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee to Laban my brother to Haran;
  44. 44 And tarry with him a few days, until your brother's fury turn away;
  45. 45 Until your brother's anger turn away from you, and he forget which you have done to him: then I will send, and fetch you from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?
  46. 46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

Discussion

  1. Appetite for Savory Meat

  1. [Proverbs 23:1-3 KJV*] 1 When you sit [ללחום][h3898]to battle with a ruler, [h995]discern [h995]to understand Aleph/Tav–what [is] before you: 2 And put a knife to your throat [אם־בּעל][h1167]a lord’s mother [h5315]soul Aleph/Tav{/Hey} you. 3 Be not desirous [h4303]to his savory meats: for they [לחם][h3899]bread of lies.
  2. [Proverbs 23:6-8 KJV*] 6 [תּלחם][h3898]You will not battle Aleph/Tav–bread of an evil eye, neither be you desirous [h4303]to his savory meats: 7 For as he thinks in his soul, so [is] he: Eat and drink, he says to you; but his heart [is] not with you. 8 The morsel[h6595] you have eaten you shall vomit up, and destroy your pleasant words.
  3. [John 13:21-30 KJV] 21 When Yahusha had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. 22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. 23 Now there was leaning on Yahusha' bosom one of his disciples, whom Yahusha loved. 24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. 25 He then lying on Yahusha' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? 26 Yahusha answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped [it]. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave [it] to Judas Iscariot, [the son] of Simon. 27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Yahusha unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. 28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. 29 For some thought, because Judas had the bag, that Yahusha had said unto him, Buy that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. 30 He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.
  4. [Psalm 41:1-13 KJV] 1 [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] Blessed [is] he that considereth the poor: YAHUAH will deliver him in time of trouble. 2 YAHUAH will preserve him, and keep him alive; [and] he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. 3 YAHUAH will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. 4 I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee. 5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish? 6 And if he come to see [me], he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; [when] he goeth abroad, he telleth [it]. 7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. 8 An evil disease, [say they], cleaveth fast unto him: and [now] that he lieth he shall rise up no more. 9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me. 10 But thou, O YAHUAH, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. 11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. 12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever. 13 Blessed [be] YAHUAH God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
  5. [John 13:18-19 KJV] 18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. 19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am [he].
  6. [Proverbs 6:20-26 KJV] 20 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, [and] tie them about thy neck. 22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and [when] thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. 23 For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life: 24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. 25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. 26 For by means of a prostituting woman to a piece of bread: and a woman man will hunt for the precious soul.
  7. [Proverbs 28:19-21 KJV] 19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain [persons] shall have poverty enough. 20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. 21 To have respect of persons [is] not good: for for a piece of bread [that] man will transgress.
  8. [2 Samuel 12:1-15 KJV] 1 And YAHUAH sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor. 2 The rich [man] had exceeding many flocks and herds: 3 But the poor [man] had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter. 4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him. 5 And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, [As] YAHUAH liveth, the man that hath done this [thing] shall surely die: 6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. 7 And Nathan said to David, Thou [art] the man. Thus saith YAHUAH God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if [that had been] too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things. 9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of YAHUAH, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife [to be] thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. 10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. 11 Thus saith YAHUAH, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give [them] unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. 12 For thou didst [it] secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun. 13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against YAHUAH. And Nathan said unto David, YAHUAH also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. 14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of YAHUAH to blaspheme, the child also [that is] born unto thee shall surely die. 15 And Nathan departed unto his house. And YAHUAH struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
  1. The Blessing

  1. [Gen 27:27-29] 27 27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son as the smell of a field which YAHUAH has blessed[jt]: 28 Therefore The Alahym give you of the dew of the heavens, and fatness of the earth, and a multitude of grain and wine[ju]: 29 Let [h5971][עמּים]peoples serve you, and [h3816][לאמּים]ethnicities bow down[h7812] to you[jv]. Be [h1376][גביר]a prevailer[jw][jx] to your brethren, and let your mother's sons bow down[h7812] to you: cursed he that curses you, and blessed he that blesses you.
  2. [Gen 2:28-29] 28 And Alahym blessed Aleph/Tav{/Mem} them and Alahym said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, [h4390]and fill Aleph/Tav–the earth, [h3533]and subdue her: [h7287]and rule over the fish of the sea, [h5775]and over flying creatures [h8064]of the heavens, and over every [h2416]creature [h7430]that creeps upon the earth. 29 And Alahym said, Behold, I have given you Aleph/Tav–every herb [h2232]sowing seed[h2233], which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and Aleph/Tav–every tree, in which [is] the fruit of a tree [h2232]sowing seed[h2233]; for you he shall be [h402]for food.
  3. [Gen 9:9-17] 9 And I, behold me, establish Aleph/Tav–my covenant with Aleph/Tav/{Kaph/Mem} you, and with Aleph/Tav–your seed after you; 10 Extending to {Vav/}Aleph/Tav every living soul that with Aleph/Tav{/Kaph/Mem} you, with the flying creature, with the animal, and with every creature of the earth with Aleph/Tav{/Kaph/Mem} you; from all that go out of the ark, to every creature of the earth. 11 And I will establish Aleph/Tav–my covenant with Aleph/Tav/{Kaph/Mem} you; neither shall all flesh be cut off [h5750]again from the waters of a flood; and neither shall there be again a flood to destroy the earth. 12 And Alahym said, the covenant–sign{Aleph/Vav/Tav} cut from {Zayin/}Aleph/Tav which I give between me and between you and between every living soul that [is] with Aleph/Tav/{Kaph/Mem} you, [h1755]for genes of [h5769]eternity[jy]. 13 [h5414]I give Aleph/Tav–my bow in the cloud[h6051], and it shall be [לאות][h226]for a sign of covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it shall come to pass, [בּענני][h6049]in my cloud a cloud over the earth, that the bow[h7198] shall be seen in the cloud[h6051]: 15 And I will remember[h2142] Aleph/Tav–my covenant, which [is] between me and you and every living soul of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the [h5769]eternity covenant between Alahym and every living soul of all flesh that [is] upon the earth. 17 And Alahym said unto Noah, the covenant–sign{Aleph/Vav/Tav} cut from {Zayin/}Aleph/Tav, which I have established between me and all flesh that [is] upon the earth. 18 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham, the father of Canaan. 19 These [are] the three sons of Noah: and of them the whole earth was dispersed[jz].
  4. [Gen 12:1-3] 1 Now YAHUAH had said unto Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, unto a land that I will show you: 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curse you: and in you shall all families of [h127]the ground be blessed[ka].
  5. [Gen 12:7-8] 7 And YAHUAH appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto your seed will I give Aleph/Tav–the land cut from {Zayin}Aleph/Tav: and there he built an altar unto YAHUAH, who appeared unto him. 8 And he relocated from the mountain of there, from east to Bethel, and pitched her tent, Bethel from west, and Hai from east: and there he built an altar unto YAHUAH, and called upon the name of YAHUAH.
  6. [Matthew 13:24-30 KJV] 24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
  7. [Matthew 27:1-10 KJV] 1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Yahusha to put him to death: 2 And when they had bound him, they led [him] away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. 3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What [is that] to us? see thou [to that]. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. 9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 10 And gave them for the potter's field, as YAHUAH appointed me.
  8. [Deuteronomy 28:1-14 KJV] 1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of YAHUAH thy God, to observe [and] to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that YAHUAH thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of YAHUAH thy God. 3 Blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the city, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the field. 4 Blessed [shall be] the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5 Blessed [shall be] thy basket and thy store. 6 Blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou comest in, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou goest out. 7 YAHUAH shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8 YAHUAH shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which YAHUAH thy God giveth thee. 9 YAHUAH shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of YAHUAH thy God, and walk in his ways. 10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of YAHUAH; and they shall be afraid of thee. 11 And YAHUAH shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which YAHUAH sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12 YAHUAH shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13 And YAHUAH shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of YAHUAH thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do [them]: 14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, [to] the right hand, or [to] the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
